During the period November 7, 2005 through July 30, 2006 the Museum at the
George Bush Presidential Library undertook its most ambitious exhibit yet —
exploring America's love affair with trains. The exhibit was titled
"Trains: Tracks of the Iron Horse". Chapter 124 provided the
horological portion of this exhibit. Below are photos of the Chapter 124 portion. In all, the Chapter provided 52 Railroad Watches, 5 Western Union Clocks and many historical documents. All are on loan from Chapter 124 members. Below are some photos taken during the time the exhibit was being set
up. |
| The Watches were divided into 4 groupings with
each grouping having an associated descriptive poster. The groupings
shown on the right are as follows: 1857-1890 The Golden Era of Railroads 1891-1905 New Milestones and Standards 1906-1929 The Golden Age of Railroad 1930-1969 The Great Depression - The End of an Era |

Chapter 124 Past President Chuck Edwards sets the time on a large Self Winding Clock Company Clock. SWCC clocks were used in most railroad depots. They were synchronized from a central time source (the Navy Observatory) so were very accurate. |
|
Chapter 124 President Bill Edwards does some fine tuning on this clock before putting the dial and hands back on it. |
