Lone Star Chapter 124

Lathe Operation 101 08/21/99

This class was taught by Russ Aikins and Phil Gregory with assistance from Bill Andrle. Attending the class were: (front row left to right) Ron Robbins, George Karas, Robin Gorman, Len Brenner, and Debbie Andrle. Also (back row) Russ Aikins (instructor), George Tilbury, Michael Gorman, Brad Swadley, Tom Szalay, and Joe Plunket.

The course included key features to evaluate when purchasing a lathe, lathe maintenance, disassembly of a member's lathe, making carbide and steel gravers and making a brass polishing wheel for verges. The club and members provided 6 lathes for those who did not have one.

This class of 10 is believed to be the largest at our old city park classroom and it brings to 40 the total number that have taken the lathe 101 course. Congratulations to all students and instructors!

Tom Szalay and Brad Swadley practice their new skills. Brad is a new member of NAWCC and Chapter 124.
Michael and Robin Gorman. Russ Aikins is there to help! Robin is new to Chapter 124 within the past year.
Len Brenner, Bill Andrle and Joe Plunkett.
Debbie Andrle, praying for help, and Ron Robbins.
