MICRO LATHE CLASS

June 26, 2010

This class was held at the Founder's Building in Grapevine, TX.  The class was taught by Russ Aikins assisted by Bill Andrle.  Students are as follows: (Left to Right) Russ Aikins (Instructor), Dr.M.D. Koch, Kelsey Downum, Bill Andrle (Assistant Instructor), Dave Thomas, David Schweitzer and Michael Corolla.

The Micro Lathe class is a basic one day class using Sherline and Unimat miniature lathes. Students learn the basic operations and grinding tool bits to cut steel. The students made a die holder as a project in class.  
 
 Note this was Russ Aikins last class as instructor. He is retiring from teaching the lathe classes. Russ was instrumental in developing the lathe classes at Chapter 124 back in the middle 90’s with Phil Gregory.  He has vast knowledge in metals and machinery. He will be missed.
