  • 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM  Workshop "The Theory, Design & Repair of the Deadbeat Escapement" taught by Mike Dempsey.  Presented the day before the Regional opening.  Cost is $50.  This event requires special registration!   Click for Details.
  • 2:00-4:30 PM  Unrestricted Unloading.   Setup for parts suppliers only.  Prior Approval Required for Setup!  Packets for table holders will be at the unloading door.
  • 2:00-4:30 PM Registration packets available for pre-registered non-table holders available in the normal registration area.
  • 6:00-7:00 PM Preview for the Thursday Night Auction.

Special for Kids
We will be having a children's table with activities for the kiddos.  We will also have prizes for finding clocks in the Mart.  We are working on other things for them to do.  The fun begins at 10:00 AM on Saturday.

MARCH 01 - Thursday

Mike is a NAWCC Star Fellow from Elm Grove, WI, is a NAWCC Director, and is the Chair of the NAWCC Education Committee.  He is well known for his outstanding educationals.

MARCH 02 - Friday

  • Richard Cox – Skeleton Clock With Glass Plates

Richard has been a member of Chapter 124 since it's founding.  He is a Certified Master Clockmaker (CMC) thru American Watch and Clockmakers Institute;  a Craft Member of British Horological Institute (CMBHI); and a Fellow NAWCC (FNAWCC)
 
He r
etired form Texas Insturments with 34 year of service as a Senior Mechanical Designer.  Also he retired from Fendley Clock Shop with 30 years part time experience doing what ever Mr Fendley said.
 
Richard has designed and built 15 clocks for the NAWCC Achievement Contests.
 
Today he is the owner and operator of Fendley & Cox Antique Clocks.
 

  • Nick Lerescu - Nick will give two presentations: 

Toys of The Czars – European & Russian Technology
Horology Along The Romantic Rhine (Spring 2013)

Nick is the owner of Advantage Tours, Inc. and has been designing, operating and escorting tours since 1974.  He is a multilingual, bona-fide travel agent, conversant in world art, history and geography.  Nick joined the NAWCC in 1990 as a private collector of watches, clocks,  ship chronometers and mechanical music boxes – anything with a gear. For the last 8 years, he has been the Secretary of NAWCC Chapter 179 as well as a member of several other chapters, including the Lone Star Chapter 124.

MARCH 03 – Saturday

  • John Schmieg - Clock Case Restoration – Perspectives from a Master Wood Worker

John is a Master Wood Worker from the Houston metropolitan area. Taught by his Father (a German craftsman), John is the 3rd generation wood worker in his family and has acquired expertise in many phases of wood working and finishing during his 40 years of personal experience – including clock case restoration. Mr. Schmieg is semi-retired in the Houston-area and continues to take on a few projects from time-to-time.

 

Two Auctions

This year we will have 200 lots of clocks and other horological items to be auctioned.  This will require 2 auctions:
  1. Auction 1 will be on Thursday night, March 1.  Preview will be from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.  The auction will start at 7:00 PM.
  2. Auction 2 will be on Friday night, March 2.  Preview for the auction will be from 4:30  PM to 5:30 PM.  The auction itself will start following the banquet at 7:30 PM. 

Our auctions have been very popular at previous Regionals, and we expect this one will be no exception.  This year we have obtained a professional auctioneer.
